Your Local Conservatives
The borough council wards of Claygate and Hinchley Wood are covered by a single Conservative branch - Claygate and Hinchley Wood Conservatives, whose current chairman is Ken Worthy. Our council representatives are:
- Surrey County Councillor Mike Bennison, whose division include Claygate, Hinchley Wood and Oxshott
- Claygate Parish Councillors Geoff Herbert, Mark Sugden and Xingang Wang
We welcome members to a range of social and political activities. Our social activities comprise:
- The constiruency association runs regular social and fundraising events.
- We have links with the local constituency branch of the Conservative Women’s Organisation, which runs regular functions and helps women to progress in politics.
Members can help in branch campaigning activities in several ways - by displaying a poster, delivering leaflets or canvassing. Even if you can only spare an hour or two to deliver leaflets, your help will be much appreciated. Some members of course become much more involved - we have been particularly encouraged by the number of young people who have been coming forward in the constituency as candidates for the borough council.
The Constituency Political Forum holds monthly debates on political issues, the results of which feed into the Party’s policy formation. Our MP, Dominic Raab, also has a political dining club, which holds several dinners each year, with speakers from Parliament and the Press. There is also a group for local businessmen.
We issue a regular newsletter, with updates on our activities and on items of interest to local residents - recent newsletters are attached at the bottom of this page.
If you are interested in any of the above activities, we would be glad to provide further information and put you in touch with the right people. Please call Ken Worthy on 01372 465379 or email email@example.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
