Cllr Ruth Mitchell

Ruth Mitchell is a Conservative councillor for Hersham Village and Cabinet member for Resources.

Ruth and her husband Chris have lived in Hersham for 25 years. Her extensive career in the finance sector as a senior executive took her around the world, not always to the most hospitable places, so she was always thankful to return to Hersham. Having been brought up in rented and council accommodation herself, Ruth knows first-hand the importance of quality and affordable housing. She takes a keen interest in its promotion. She served for several years as a Trustee of Paragon and currently serves on PA Housing Association's Customer Services Committee that assists tenants.

As a councillor she is accessible to residents, helping them and solving their problems. Ruth was appalled that Hersham had no free cash machine, so she led a virtually onewoman campaign and, never taking no for an answer, eventually persuaded Waitrose to install one just over a year ago. It’s been a huge success.

Ruth can be contacted on 01932 220557 or by email
