Cllr Steve Bax

Steve represents Molesey East on Elmbridge Borough Council, having been elected on 3 May 2018 with a 289 vote majority. He has been an active campaigner in Molesey since 2011 and was previously a Conservative Councillor from 2014-16.

About Steve:

Steve’s passion for community issues stems from his years as a journalist and editor working for local papers in Surrey and London. He revitalised the Conservatives as a local campaigning force in Molesey and produces the regular Molesey News newsletters to keep residents informed.

As a Molesey East Councillor he serves as Vice-Chair of the North Area Planning Sub Committee and is a member of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee, the Elmbridge Local Committee, as well as Elmbridge's representative at the Local Authorities Aircraft Noise Council (LAANC).

Steve's main priorities are to secure investment for Molesey's roads, to protect local open spaces and parks, to promote affordable housing for young people and key workers in appropriate locations, and to ensure that residents receive the best possible services possible. He is taking a close interest in plans to redevelop the land around Hampton Court Station and in the future of Molesey Hospital - this could be rebuilt as a new facility including GP services. Steve is the Vice-Char of the Friends of Molesey Library and a governor of Cranmere Primary School. He is married with three children.
